35 hours per week (Full-time)
Contract:
6-month specified purpose contract (with potential for extension)

Salary: HSE Pay Scale Applies, depending on experience

We are thrilled to offer this exceptional opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join a dedicated Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapy team.

Excel Recruitment are recruiting a Speech and Language Therapist on behalf of a busy acute hospital in Drogheda, Co. Louth.

Your Role:

As a Staff Speech and Language Therapist, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with communication and swallowing disorders. You will play a critical role in improving the health, well-being, and quality of life of patients within an acute hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments for patients with communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing difficulties.
  • Manage a caseload of elderly patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, brain injury, and progressive neurological diseases.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions to patients with dysphagia, ensuring best practice in assessment and management.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team (MDT), including medical, nursing, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy teams, to provide holistic patient care.
  • Provide education and training to hospital staff, patients, and families on communication and swallowing strategies.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in ongoing clinical audits and service development.
  • Engage in clinical supervision and continuous professional development (CPD) to ensure the highest standard of care.

Essential:

  • CORU registration (or eligibility) as a Speech & Language Therapist.
  • Dysphagia qualification and experience in an acute setting.
  • Experience working with neurological conditions, stroke rehabilitation, and orthopaedics.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving
    Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment
