Community Staff Nurse

Excel Healthcare is currently seeking a passionate Community Staff Nurse on a full time, permanent contract to work in a children’s hospice located in South Dublin. Our client offers palliative care and support to address the needs of children with complex, life-limiting conditions, as well as providing support their families.

This role offers the chance to provide compassionate care to children and their families during some of the most challenging times in their lives. You will be part of a dedicated team, making a real difference by offering comfort, support, and hope.

Responsibilities of a Community Staff Nurse:

  • Undertake family visits in the children’s homes each day across the Leinster area.
  • Assess, monitor, and report any changes in the child’s symptoms and condition, adjusting treatment and symptom management as per hospice protocols.
  • Provide holistic, needs-driven, evidence-based nursing care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
  • Ensure each child’s care is assessed, planned, implemented, and evaluated in collaboration with the family, and that this is accurately documented.
  • Work within your scope of practice.
  • Promote family-centred care by maintaining a welcoming, caring, and safe environment for children and their families.
  • Providing a high standard of care and service within the workplace.
  • Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to children, families and carers.

Requirements of a Community Staff Nurse:

  • Active NMBI Pin as an RGN, RCN or RNID.
  • RCNs require a minimum of 3-year post qualification experience working in a paediatric setting.
  • RGNs and RNIDs must have at least 5 years of experience with children or young people with complex needs.
  • Full clean drivers licence.
  • Genuine interest in children’s palliative care.
  • Knowledge of HIQA regulations and standards.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • A degree or post graduate diploma in Palliative Care is desirable.
