Director of Nursing

Negotiable Nursing and Midwifery Dún Laoghaire

In partnership with our client, Excel Healthcare is currently recruiting a committed and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) for a well-established Nursing Home in South Dublin, on a permanent, full-time basis.

This medium sized centre provides full time care for elderly, including individuals with dementia, those in need of secondary rehabilitation, as well as respite care.

This is an ideal career option for anyone with a track record of successful management. It is a permanent full-time job in a nursing home. This role will suit anyone living in Dun Laoghaire or the surrounding area.

Key responsibilities of this Director of Nursing role:

  • Day-to-day management of the nursing home.
  • Liaise with family members of all residents in relation to the care and service provided.
  • Respond appropriately to any concerns or issues raised.
  • Managing and adhering to HIQA regulations.
  • Overseeing Health & Safety protocols.
  • Managing all staff within the nursing home and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Ensure the care provided by staff meets the needs and wishes of all residents.
  • Work alongside the multidisciplinary team, including staff nurses and healthcare assistants, ensuring effective communication while demonstrating commitment to our client’s core values.

Requirements for this Director of Nursing job:

  • Active NMBI registration.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a managerial role, ideally at ADON level.
  • A Level 6 Management or Supervisory Qualification.
  • Relevant qualifications and certifications.
  • Strong clinical, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Sound decision-making capabilities.
  • Have appropriate work authorisation in Ireland ( EU/EEA citizenship or Stamp 1G or Stamp 4).
