Director of Nursing
Excel Healthcare is looking for a committed and experienced Director of Nursing for a small nursing home in south Co. Meath. The aim of this home is to provide excellent nursing care to residents in a peaceful and relaxing environment.
This is an ideal career option for anyone with a track record of successful management, this is a permanent full-time job in a nursing home. It will be your duty as a Director of Nursing to supervise the delivery of top-quality care to residents and to ensure the smooth running of the home.
The ideal applicant for this position would have at a minimum prior ADON management experience in the Irish nursing care system. Someone who lives in Ashbourne, or the nearby area would be a good fit for this post.
Responsibilities of a Director of Nursing:
- Liaise with family members of all residents in relation to the care and service provided.
- Ensure the safety of all staff, residents, family members and visitors in line with policies and procedures of the home.
- Respond appropriately to any concerns or issues raised.
- Ensure risk assessments are carried out as necessary and proper actions are put in place.
- Maintain all files, records, reports are completed and kept in accordance with policy.
- Manage staff rosters and annual leave requests.
- Conduct interviews and induction for new staff members.
- Participate in service evaluation and identify any areas for improvement.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals and the HSE.
- Participate in HIQA inspections and support all staff members in their understanding and adherence to HIQA standards and regulations.
- Ensure the care provided by staff meets the needs and wishes of all residents.
- Receive and review referrals from acute hospitals and also carry out home visits for pre-admission assessments.
Requirements for this Director of Nursing job:
- Hold active NMBI Registration Pin.
- Have at least 10 years post registration experience, with the last 3 years being in care of the elderly.
- Have at least 5 years nursing management experience.
- A post registration management qualification is required.
- Possess a full, clean driver’s license and be willing to travel to family homes for assessments.
- High levels of organisational and communication skills.
- Experience in conducting audits, investigations, incident and accident reviews.
- Strong knowledge of HIQA standards and regulations.
