Occupational Therapist
Charlene Cooke is seeking a skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist on behalf of an organisation that provide services to children, young people, and adults across a range of settings and locations, in fostering, disability and mainstream residential services.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to further their career while becoming part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team dedicated to supporting people with disabilities.
Candidates must be self-driven, focused, highly motivated, creative, and experienced with a passion for engaging with the people we support on a daily basis.
As an Occupational Therapist, you will conduct comprehensive assessments to develop person-centred care plans.
Focus on sensory needs and therapeutic interventions for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism.
Work closely with families, staff, and multidisciplinary teams to implement effective therapy programs
Provide ongoing training and support to frontline teams
Travel to residential services across the Northwest and Western regions
Reporting to the Regional Director of Services, this part time role will be based from Sligo, (Hybrid work option available), the successful candidate will be expected to travel to across residential services across the Northwest and western regions.
Role Objectives
- Conducting comprehensive assessments of the individual’s needs and make recommendations on supports required i.e. person, activity, equipment and environment.
- Using standardized and evidence-based assessments to form basis of clinical reasoning.
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and reviewing treatments / intervention programmes for individuals using a person-centred approach.
- Assessing all situations with a focus on managing risk and contributing towards positive outcomes for the individual.
- Collaborating with the individual while working in partnership with frontline staff / families / multidisciplinary team all other relevant stakeholders to identify and achieve goals.
- Promoting continuity of care using effective communication processes with frontline staff.
- Ensuring all records and technical data are up to date and available as required.
- Effectively managing own caseload.
- Forming strong positive working relationships across all areas of the service.
- Holding an appropriate and effective set of professional values and beliefs and behaving in line with professional standards as set down by relevant professional bodies.

Essential:
- CORU-registered Occupational Therapist (or eligible for registration)
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with intellectual disabilities, autism, or acquired brain injuries
- Experience in sensory integration
- Strong communication, assessment, and report-writing skills
- A full clean driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Garda and overseas clearance (if applicable)
