Senior Occupational Therapist

Excel Healthcare is currently seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist for the children and adolescents’ mental health service in North Dublin City on a contract basis. As a Senior OT you will be responsible for delivering an effective, evidence-based, patient-focused, high-quality Occupational Therapy Service for young people with moderate to severe mental health disorders, as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

This is a contract role for a period of 4 to 6 months initially.

Responsibilities of a Senior Occupational Therapist:

  • Manage own caseload, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of treatment programs for service users according to service standards.
  • Participate in the integrated discharge planning process.
  • Exhibit clinical knowledge, reasoning skills, and evidence-based practices necessary for fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the role in accordance with relevant legislation and standards.
  • Supervise staff, prioritize and allocate work, and promote positive staff morale and team working in the designated service area(s), in conjunction with the Occupational Therapist Manager.
  • Lead service planning with the Occupational Therapist Manager by anticipating the changing needs of the service and service users.
  • Foster and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, front-line managers, and other healthcare personnel in the team.
  • Ensure the quality of documentation for all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, reports, and discharge summaries, in accordance with local service and professional standards.
  • Promote a safe working environment in accordance with Health and Safety legislation.

Requirements for this Senior Occupational Therapist job

  • Must be registered with CORU.
  • Must have at least 3 years post qualification experience.
  • High levels of organizational and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong effective relationships with children, adolescents and families.
  • Relevant professional knowledge in the area of children and adolescents.
  • Full Irish license and access to a vehicle.
