Charlene Cooke is recruiting for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist on behalf of an organisation that provides essential services to children, young people, and adults across a range of settings, including residential, fostering, and disability care services.

This part time role will be based from Sligo, (Hybrid work option available), the successful candidate will be expected to travel to across residential services across the Northwest and western regions.

The Speech & Language Therapist must be self-driven, focused, highly motivated, creative, and experienced with a passion for engaging with the people we support on a daily basis.

  • You will join our multidisciplinary team to provide of a range of speech and language therapy inputs to children and adults with an intellectual disability. This part time role will be based in Sligo, Hybrid work option available.
  • You will support individuals across the North west and western regions.
  • You will work closely with families, staff, and multidisciplinary teams to implement effective therapy programs.
  • You will provide ongoing training and support to frontline teams.
  • You will travel to residential services across the Northwest and Western regions.

Role Objectives:

  • Provide comprehensive speech and language therapy assessments and interventions to children and young people with complex disabilities focusing on enhancing their communication and functional abilities and participation in daily activities.
  • Demonstrates exemplary clinical skills in SLT assessment intervention and diagnostics to meet the specific needs of children and young people with a range of disabilities including physical, sensory, autism, etc.
  • Provide a speech and language therapy service to include communication assessment, diagnostics and intervention, and ongoing service delivery to children and adults with a range of disabilities.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans support plans based on evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team other MDT members in an interdisciplinary model and support the Regional Directors to provide holistic care.
  • Engage with families and care givers staff and families to provide education and support regarding their child’s the supported individual communication needs.
  • Participate in service development initiatives and quality improvement projects.
  • Provide education, training, and support to team members providing care to empower them to facilitate the development of the people our client supports.

Essential:

  • A recognised third level qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • A minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience, preferably working with children and young adults with disabilities.
  • Ideally experience in delivery of communication aid programmes to include Lamh
  • Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Speech & Language Therapist by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
  • Full Drivers licence with eligibility to drive in Ireland & access to a vehicle.
  • Be eligible to work in the state without restriction.
