Excel Recruitment are recruiting a CORU registered, Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate, and eager to join a highly regarded CAMHS team in South Dublin.

The successful candidate will play a key role in assessing and supporting children and adolescents with complex mental health needs, helping them to communicate effectively and improve their quality of life.

Role summary:

This is a fulltime, contract for a Speech & Language Therapist to provide routine CAMHS assessments.

Child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) is a specialist service for children and young people up to age 18 years, who are experiencing significant mental health difficulties or illness and need treatment from mental health professionals.

You will gain invaluable experience in a specialist CAMHS setting while working closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other Allied health professionals.

You will have the support of a Multidisciplinary team of Allied Healthcare CAMHS professionals

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide mental health assessments and speech and language therapy alongside Health and Social care professionals, with input from psychiatry
  • Communicate intake assessments to CAMHS teams
  • Document assessment, referral contacts and summaries in accordance with discipline and professional standards, in a manner compatible with Freedom of Information Act and Data Protection Act
  • Collaborate with young people and parents/carers, team and other agencies in treatment planning
  • Foster close working relationships with CAMHS colleagues and agencies in maximising young people’s outcomes
  • Seek advice and assistance with any assigned duties in line with principles of evidence-based practice and clinical governance.

Qualifications, skills, competencies, knowledge:

  • Hold a qualification approved by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU
  • Have three years post qualification clinical experience for senior grade
  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge, clinical reasoning skills and evidence-based practice appropriate to carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the role
  • Demonstrate the ability to plan and deliver assessments in an effective and resourceful manner
  • Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload
